Matt and I met on JDate. I was living in Brooklyn and he was living in Hoboken, NJ.A mutual friend had tried to set us up, but we never met until Matt wrote me.We’re from the same hometown but never knew each other, even though we attended high school around the same time.
For our first date,we had dinner at Sushi Samba in theWestVillage. The conversation was great and we had a lot in common. After that dinner, we saw each other regularly. One Sunday, Matt came to Brooklyn to watch the Giants at my apartment, but we spent the entire time talking and barely watched the game. This was the first and last time that Matt hasn’t seen a Giants game!
After five months, my lease in Brooklyn expired and I decided to move to Hoboken, where Matt and I saw each other daily. After six months, we decided to move in together and found a place on Wall Street in Manhattan.
After a year of living together, we went to Las Vegas to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday, where Matt proposed and I said yes! We started to plan immediately upon our return.
Once our rabbi confirmed the dates he had available, we needed a location for our reception and visited over 12 venues in one weekend. The Brooklake Country Club was the last location we visited, but after our meeting with Stanley Subarsky and seeing all that Brooklake had to offer, our decision was easy. Next the band selection process began. After listening to over a dozen bands, we decided on NewYork Soul.
As the wedding took place in fall, we used candy-covered apples for the seating cards and our fa- vors were wine bottles with personalized labels. Our centerpieces were wrought-iron pedestals, each filled with three dozen red roses and one dozen black magic roses.
The cocktail hour was amazing, featuring seven stations, including a dim sum bar, a Tuscan display, and a mashed potato bar, in addition to a vodka bar with an ice sculpture and butler-passed hors d’oeuvres like seared ahi tuna and herb-encrusted baby lamb chops. Everyone was amazed, not only by the quantity, but the quality of the food. Dinner included a citrus fennel slaw and pan-seared Mary- land crab cake first course, followed by a choice of pan-seared organic chicken, roasted dry-aged filet mignon, panko-encrusted roasted salmon, or a vegetarian option. Dessert was an individual tast- ing plate with five different options. If guests had any room left, there was also wedding cake!
Our ceremony was gorgeous and the reception was fantastic. The party continued in our hotel suite until early the next morning. New York Soul was amazing! They played a great mix of current and older songs and kept our guests dancing all night long.We couldn’t have asked for a better or more accommodating band.
We would like to thank all of the staff at the Brooklake Country Club for making our wedding an evening we will never forget. The entire wedding process was smooth and our guests enjoyed them- selves thoroughly. From our first meeting to our last goodbye, Stanley and the entire staff made sure all our needs were satisfied and we couldn’t be more grateful. We cannot thank them enough for giving us memories that will last forever.
